Homework just got easier.

This started as our summer boredom buster bin … but

instead of buying new, I painted over it, peeled off the decals, and now it’s storage for our girls homework kits

✨ Organized, and ready for after-school as I can’t tell you how many times we’ve walked all over the house

looking for pencils, a sharpener or trying to find a makers that wasn't dried out with a lid on.

Here's everything I'm putting in my girls bins (anything with * next to means it's something very similar to what we have.

Colored Pencils

Glitter Pens

Retractable Markers

*Pencils (make them fun ones!)

*Pencil sharpener (again, make it fun!)

Glue Stick (my are from my Etsy shop)

Large Scissors (ages 9+)

Small Scissor (ages 3-6)

*Jumbo Pastel Paper Clips

Happy Back-To-School/Fall + Making!

First Day Of School - Ruler Sign

First Day of school decoration idea diy sign

First day photos just got an upgrade — and one that's so fun to see them grow with (literally).

With my youngest headed off to 1st grade this year, I wanted to make sure we circled back to those positive affirmations as a way to remind her the importance of being ourselves; True, Kind, Brave, and Bold.

Here's how I MADE it

First day of school diy sign
Setup your area with all the supplies you’ll need.

First day of school diy sign
Paint your entire 30x10 canvas one color in 2 coats (one horizontal + one vertical for a solid finish) Let Dry.

Mark lightly with a pencil every 2 inches down the entire left side of your canvas.

After washing your paint pallet out, fill 5 colors of your choice for the ruler markings.

For each color, dab and paint over your marks in sets of 3.  Just be sure to make the first mark a bit

longer for your “word” to be glued.

Spell and space out your letters on your craft mat.

Then paint each word according to the ruler color marks on your canvas by slowly shifting the craft mat down as you go.

Glue gun your word to it’s matching color set on the first mark of the ruler/canvas.
