Whimsical Advent Calendar 2025

 

Playroom shelves turned a whimsical DIY Advent Calendar and I think I'm in love. My girls told me this is the best one I've made yet and I .... I would agree. It's one of those projects that I feel photos don't do it justice as it's so full, bright and colorful with a pop of red! Yet still very pink and purple. My girls favorite colors. 

I didn't need anything special to hang this up except for command hooks (garland on wall) and gaffer tape (to connect the string to the scalloped shelfs). She's a beaut.

Easy Gingerbread Wall Decor

The dining room just got an upgrade for this years holiday meal.

And this space? I felt it needed a little more than a holiday themed table scape setup come Christmas Day yet something that doesn't take over the entire room. But instead add's to it. 

So I decided we'd create a little DIY room decor as we'll hold our family for Christmas Eve + Day dinner along with a holiday party we're hosting right after Thanksgiving!

Here's Everything you'll need to MAKE it

Canvas (36x48)

Light brown/beige acrylic paint

Gingerbread Window Clings

Mod Podge

Sponge Brush

Handmade Christmas Gift From Kids

 

The kind of handmade gifts from my girls is one I LOVE to make right before Thanksgiving as we tend to have a few days off from school with conferences. So I designed this one to be a sweet mommy and me (or parent + me) craft for the holiday season. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

What you'll need to MAKE this one

CHEEKS Brand Craft Mat 

Paint Brush

High Quality Scissors

Cardboard (I used Amazon box as it's just thick enough but not too thick)

Mini Wicker Wreathe

Red Ribbon

Mod Podge 

Felt (purple, dark green, green)

Glitter Card stock 

Gold String 

Black + White photo of your child printed out on printer paper  with hands down at sides (palms to back)

Parent: Take photo of child (arms out by sides)

Palms facing back

Parent: Print photo in black + white 

Kids: Mod Pod photo to cardboard (on bottom + top of photo to seal)

Airy dry (or let dry by fireplace while monitoring/don't get too close of course!) and 

at the same time wipe clean your CHEEKs craft mat

Parents/older kids: Cut around silhouette. After cutting out around the silouette my size is 8 inch x 5.5. inches here.

Parents/older kids: Glue gun previously cut felt leaf shapes to wreathe base

Parents/Older kids: Glue gun wreathe to photo

 Parents/older kids: Fabric glue (or glue gun) on mittens, bow + glitter card stock pom pom

Display and enjoy.

Floral Pumpkin Turkey

The Thanksgiving DIY you didn't know you needed.

It was 8pm at night that my mind came across this idea and so, here we are!

Kids Halloween Balloon Craft x Self Portrait

How fun are these?! If there was one Halloween kids craft to try these next few weeks, I'd have to say this would be it. We've made a few over the years with our CHEEKs craft mats though my girls loved making it look like they were holding a bundle of Halloween shaped balloons and I can't blame them! I mean, image how fun that would be in real life?!

What you'll need to make this Kids Halloween Balloon Craft x Self portrait? 

Black Card stock

Sponges

CHEEKs craft mat

Sharpie

Acrylic paint

Scissors

Hole Punch

Glue stick

Glitter + Mod Podge (optional) 

Draw or trace a halloween shape on your sponge. 

Cut on the line you just traced.

Glue gun wooden pulls to middle of Halloween sponge shape. Now you have your DIY stamp!

Next cut out a black + white photo on card stick paper of your child (or cut themselves).

Trace the outline of your child’s image (or have them trace) to reveal the section of where they will be glued on.

Setup up your craft mat with the desired acrylic paint colors, clean water cup and dirty water cup.

Paint the entire back of your DIY stamp.  Then stamp in the upper corner and or all around silhouette.

Glue photo to your stamped print.

Draw a line (or they draw!) from your child’s hand up to the bottom of each Halloween stamp. Now you have a Halloween balloon!

Hole punch 2 black dots for the ghost eyes (if you make this shape) and draw on any other details you wish. Maybe even glitter? It's all up to you and your mini maker : )
